A Journey Through the UNESCO World Heritage City in Yazd
The architecture of a town says a lot about the lifestyle of its people. Like any other city, Yazd bears the marks left by its rulers or prominent residents. Have a look at the history and architecture of this town by starting at Amir Chakhmaq Complex consisting of a square, cisterns, a bathhouse, caravanserais, a bazaar, and a Tekiyeh built in the 15th – 16th centuries by Amir Jalal al-din Chakhmaq, then governor of the town. Then follow to the Khan bazaar and Khan school built in the 18th century. In the end, you can pay a visit to Shesh Badgir Ab Anbar (Six Wind Towers Cistern), consisting of six wind towers and an underground cistern, the two structures which make living in Yazd possible.
